What a great day we’ve had today!

It was the RSPCA Young Photographer Awards (YPA) ceremony here and the winner was announced. Woof! There were lots of people all waiting excitedly to see who had won. Well I can tell you exactly who won…!

The overall winner is…….18-year-old Francis Prior with his photograph of the magnified eyes of a jumping spider. The photo is called Through the Looking Glass.

Under 12s

Nine-year-old Dana Brereton won the Under 12s category with her picture of a spider (I like spiders!), and the runner-up was Alina Kiewell, age 10, who entered a photograph of an oryx in Namibia, a country in Africa. The judges also really liked Stephen Brown‘s picture of an American eagle, and Alaisdair Davies‘ photo of a dragonfly, and they also won prizes.

The other categories were: 12-15, 16-18, Pet personalities, Making life better, and portfolio. Why not take a look at all the other brilliant entries we received this year?

I’m pleased to see some of my canine friends making the shortlist!
