Great Gizmo’s fascinating story.

A missing cat found in Buckinghamshire has been reunited with his owner – 250 miles away in a town called Silly! That’s in BELGIUM in case you were wondering.

Gizmo sitting

Eight-year-old Gizmo went missing in August 2015 while his owner Milene Letertre was living in High Wycombe.

Heartbroken Milene searched for Gizmo for three months, but eventually she had to return home.

Ten months later the RSPCA was called after a cat was found a short distance from the house where Gizmo had gone missing. When he was scanned for a microchip, up popped Milene’s details – it was Gizmo!

Overjoyed, Milene came straight to England to collect Gizmo and took him back to their home in Belgium.

Happy ending

“It just goes to show the importance of microchips,” says RSPCA Chief Inspector Rob Hartley. “It does not matter where you are in the world – if your pet is microchipped and the contact details are up to date, there is a very good chance that you will be reunited with your pet.”

Hello, I'm Christine and I'm part of the team who work on the Animal Action magazine. I've been at the RSPCA for quite a while and just love being part of such a great organisation. My most favourite animals are dogs and I have a soft spot for Westies.
