Little owl rescued after flying into house through chimney
The RSPCA was called in to rescue a little owl from a house in Tamworth after he recreated a scene from Harry Potter – by flying into a living room through a chimney!
The owl – who is smaller than an adult’s hand – has been nicknamed Hedwig after Harry Potter’s faithful bird of prey.
RSPCA Inspector Laura Bryant went to collect the owl. She says: “The people had woken up in the morning to find this little owl just flying around the living room! The only way he could have got in was through the chimney.
“When I got there he was hiding behind the sofa.”
The little owl was taken to the RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre in Cheshire.
Laura adds: “At first glance he didn’t look too dirty, but as soon as we had a proper look at him, we could see all this soot coming off him.”
“If he had ‘apparated’ from the wizarding world then I suspect his plan went a bit wrong!”
Lee Stewart, manager at Stapeley Grange, tells us: “We don’t get many little owls coming in, but Hedwig is taking food well and we hope he’ll be able to be released back into the wild soon.”
