RSPCA rescues hungry terrier from hole on Christmas Eve
Eagle-eyed dock workers in Goole called the RSPCA when they spotted the scruffy terrier trapped over a metre down a pit under a road bridge.
Thin and hungry
RSPCA Animal Collection Officer (ACO) Helen Martindale gave him with some biscuits before lifting him out of the pit.
Helen, who gave the little dog the nickname Oliver Twist, says: “He was incredibly thin and I think he’d been there about a week with nothing to eat or drink. It was lucky he was spotted!”
Helen rushed Oliver to a vets where he was given a check over. She says: “He was covered with ticks and fleas but otherwise he was okay. Hearing that was the best Christmas present I could ask for!”
Oliver is recovering well, but was not microchipped so we have not yet been able to give him back to his owners.
