RSPCA helps when baby bunnies get out of hand

The owners of a pair of rabbits who kept producing litters gave all nine bunnies to us so we could give them the care they needed.

RSPCA Animal Collection Officer Kate Wright says: “The father and mother rabbit had two older kits with them, about four months old, and five young babies around three weeks old.

Fit and well

They are all healthy and well cared for, but the breeding just got out of hand and the owners didn’t know what to do!

The rabbits are now at RSPCA Bedfordshire South Branch, who will care for them until they are ready to be rehomed.

Neutering reminder

The delightful bunnies have been named after The Sound of Music’s Von Trapp family: Maria and Captain – the parents – and Liesl, Friedrich, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta, Marta and Gretl.

Kate adds: “Rabbits should be kept in pairs as they’re really sociable, but you should make sure they’re neutered – otherwise you’ll end up with a lot of rabbits, very quickly!
