RSPCA Cymru was alerted after this parakeet flew into a kitchen at Ronald McDonald House Charities at the University Hospital of Wales – called Heath Hospital locally – one afternoon last week.

The bird was safely captured and we went along to pick him up. He was checked over by a vet and is now doing well in RSPCA care – although he does have a few tail feathers missing!

Someone’s pet

We have now launched a search for the parakeet’s owner, and RSPCA officers are urging anyone who may be able to help in reuniting the bird with their owner to get in touch on our inspectorate appeal line on: 0300 123 8018

RSPCA Animal Collection Officer (ACO) Gary Lucas says: “Without question, this parakeet would have proved to be one of the more unexpected visitors to Cardiff’s Heath Hospital!
