Bonfire night is nearly here!

In the run up to bonfire night, you may be worried that your pet will be frightened by the loud noise of fireworks. We are here to give you some simple tips to make your pet feel safe:

Pretty, but scary!

  • Make sure your dog or cat always has access to somewhere to hide and can feel safe.

  • Walk your dog during daylight hours.

  • Keep cats and dogs indoors when fireworks are likely to be set off.

  • At night, close the windows and curtains and put on music, the radio or the tv to mask the sound of fireworks.

  • With small animals who live outside, partly cover their cages, pens and aviaries with blankets so that one area is well sound-proofed. Provide lots of extra bedding so that they have something to burrow in.

If you pet is still frightened, it might be best to ask your vet for advice.

Hi, I'm Amber. I was abandoned when I was six weeks old but the RSPCA looked after me and my life's been fab ever since! I love making friends and I'll sit on your lap happily for hours, if you'll let me. I love learning and catching up with the news. See you around!
