Lab animals left waiting for words to be turned into actions

In the coming days, MPs and Lords are expected to pass new UK legislation on animal experimentation. Since a new European Directive on this issue – the catalyst for our own new law – was agreed back in 2010 there has been much concern that we might see a weakening of existing UK controls and standards.

Can you dig it? Gerbils can!

Gerbils love digging. In fact, they love digging so much that, in the wild, they dig vast underground burrows to house their large family group and keep them safe from harm; a whole host of long hind limbs tunnelling in unison, happily creating their home. They even make a food store and sleeping chambers- gerbils really have thought of everything!
