Did you give your horse, pony or donkey a second chance? Did you rescue them from a life of cruelty, neglect or suffering? Is your rescue horse a star? Then enter them in our Second Chance Stars rescue horse competition.
We all know that rescue horses are winners but many people don’t realise that rehoming a horse can be a great alternative to buying. We want to show the Great British public what rescue horses are made of and why they are stars.
Molly’s amazing transformation
Take Molly, a six-month-old piebald filly who was found in a collapsed state in a dark and secluded field. From the worn, muddy area around her it appeared she had been down for a while. Although her coat was thick, her hip bones and spine were clearly prominent. She was pawing the ground trying to stand but had little strength left.
After rehabilitation in our care Molly made a full recovery. We then took her to Equifest, the largest horse show in the UK and entered her into the PRP/RSPCA Rescue Horse of the Year Championship. She went on to win reserve champion. What a star!
So whether your horse, pony or donkey is a child’s best friend, an adult rider’s delight or a companion for other equines; we want to see why your horse is a Second Chance Star.
How to enter
To enter your horse, pony or donkey, simply email your photos to email@example.com with a short (no more than 250 words) introduction about your horse, where you rescued them from and why they are a star. The deadline for entries is midday 23, June 2014.
If your horse is picked as a finalist we’ll contact you directly. Voting will be opened on our Facebook page from Thursday, 26 June. The winner, based on the number of ‘likes’ your photo gets, will then be announced on 4 July!
Good luck to you and your Second Chance Stars!
